Welcome to Del Mar
Although just a tiny sliver of beachfront property north of San Diego, high-end Del Mar has long attracted attention from the affluent. Once a getaway for stars of Hollywood's golden era (Rancho Santa Fe resident Bing Crosby invested in the Del Mar race track), it lends itself as a spot to work less and play more.
Tucked between low-key Solana Beach and the Torrey Pines State Reserve, Del Mar occupies an ideal, central location along the Pacific Coast. San Diego is 30 minutes to the south; Carlsbad 20 minutes to the north.
Del Mar offers up some of San Diego County's most glamorous and appealing housing. The homes here regularly fetch seven- and eight-figures and are laden with high-end amenities, including grand living spaces, opulent kitchens and bathrooms, and million-dollar views.

People & Lifestyle
If you're after upscale oceanside living, few places better satisfy those desires than Del Mar. Long favored as an escape for celebrity notables, including golden-era Hollywood stars and modern-day athletes, Del Mar caters to those who enjoy opulence and an ocean view.
Similar to other enclaves in San Diego's North Coastal Region, many homes in Del Mar are second and third residences—purchased to take advantage of the resort town vibes that permeate every corner of town. However, its location and proximity to good schools make it a viable spot as a permanent home as well, particularly if you enjoy a more active lifestyle than what a traditional seaside town offers.
Dining, Shopping & Entertainment
There's no shortage of dining and shopping hotspots in and around Del Mar. The best of Del Mar's culinary and retail scenes are a few blocks from the oceanfront Seagrove Park, making for an excellent day or night out.
Many of the most desirable spots are along Camino Del Mar, the community's central artery, and the heart of
Del Mar Village. For high-end boutique shopping in a unique setting, venture to
Del Mar Plaza at the northern end of the Camino Del Mar's main retail area..
Things to Do
For such a small area, Del Mar possesses an incredible array of activities, festivals, and outdoor pursuits. The best place to start any tour of Del Mar is at its most famous attraction, the
Del Mar Fairgrounds, which is home to Surfside Race Place, Del Mar Area, and the San Diego County Fair.
Owing to its location and near-perfect year-round weather, Del Mar is very much an outdoor escape. The city features three parks along the Pacific coastline—
Powerhouse, Seagrove, and the dog-friendly
North Beach—with surfing a major draw at each. There's also direct access to
Crest Canyon Park along Del Mar's eastern border.
